The Prime Minister is facing increasing pressure from his own MPs to resign

Sir Keir Starmer has been handed a scathing verdict by Alex Wilson following a "staggering" King's Speech today, as he declared it is "time for him to go".

Speaking to GB News, the Reform UK London Assembly member branded the current situation within the Labour Government a "shambles".

The Reform politician expressed astonishment at Sir Keir's performance in office, dismissing earlier claims that competent leadership had returned to Government.

He said: "It's absolutely staggering, really. All Governments, when they come in, they have a honeymoon. This one hasn't.

"The wheels have come off very, very quickly, and you've seen today is just a continuation of that process. It's a shambles.

"We were told just less than two years ago the adults were back in the room. Well, that's proven to be completely not the case."

Mr Wilson highlighted that Reform entered recent elections with a clear objective, telling voters to support the party as a means of removing Sir Keir from power.

He recalled: "We did go into those elections with a very strong message, 'vote Reform, get Starmer out'. The people in their millions did exactly that, they voted for Reform, and now the Prime Minister is under extreme pressure.

"But when I was out on doors, it was deeper than that. It wasn't just dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister, people had lost faith with the Labour Government in its entirety."

Mr Wilson compared today's weather and heavy rainfall to the day Rishi Sunak resigned, where he stood in Downing Street in the pouring rain.

He told GB News: "We had a little shower of rain just now, that reminds me very much of that morning on the day when Rishi Sunak went out onto the steps of Downing Street and called a general election.

"I think it would be the best thing possible for the country if Keir Starmer could do the same."

Calling for a Government with a "sense of grip and purpose" to replace Labour, Mr Wilson argued that Nigel Farage and the Reform Party could lead Britain more efficiently.

He said: "We need a Government that's got a sense of purpose, a sense of grip. We need a leader who's got a grip over their own party.

"There's only one main party leader today that has that grip over his own party, and could do that over the country as a whole. That's Nigel Farage. That's why we need a general election now."

Mr Wilson argued that the "chaos" within the Labour Government is "very much of their own making".

He said: "It's because they came into power with no clear plan of what they wanted to do. They had all that time to prepare for it.

"The outcome of the 2024 general election was a foregone conclusion for at least two years. They should have known exactly what they wanted to do."

Mr Wilson concluded: "But the way they've carried on shows that simply wasn't the case. And it's no surprise when you've got a frontbench made of people who have spent no time running their own business, making real decisions, having to employ people, pay wages, all those kind of difficult things that have to be done. They've got no experience in that.

"And so when it comes to making real world decisions that affect everybody's lives on a daily basis, you just haven't got it, and that's why they're a shambles."
