The Prime Minister admitted that he 'hasn't got everything right' in his first three months of office

Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of "not being able to cook up a decent line" following his keynote speech at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool today.

Starmer admitted that he "hasn't got everything right" in his first three months as Britain's leader, after landing himself in hot water several times since gaining the keys to Downing Street.

In his speech to party members and supporters, Starmer outlined his plans for the country and notably suffered a huge gaffe in calling for the return of hostages held in Gaza, instead calling them "sausages".

Reacting to the speech, Conservative leadership hopeful Tom Tugendhat slammed the efforts of Starmer and claimed the PM has "demonstrated the arrogance of somebody who simply can't deliver".

Tugendhat told GB News: "It was a banger of a speech, but he can't even cook up a decent line.

"The problem is he's really made a complete hash of it, hasn't he? And none of it's worked out at all. He's fried the whole thing in bananas and made a complete mess of it."

When questioned on his verdict of the scrapping of the Winter Fuel Payment by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, Tugendhat stressed that he "doesn't believe" the move was a "tough decision" for the Government to make.

Tugendhat fumed: "What they've done is they've decided to take money off vulnerable pensioners and give it to their union paymasters, that's the decision.

"That's a choice that this Labour government has made to pay for itself, to serve itself, rather than to serve the British people."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Turning the discussion to other plans set out in Starmer's speech today, Tugendhat was asked for his thoughts on Labour's new initiative Homes for Veterans, as the Prime Minister claimed they have been "neglected for years" by the Tories.

Tugendhat fiercely disagreed, hitting back: "I'm really proud of the leadership that Johnny Mercer and the Office of Veterans Affairs demonstrated, and this Labour government has demonstrated such poor leadership.

"They've even removed the Veterans Minister from Cabinet, that's how seriously they take it."

Slamming the Labour Party's first few months in power, Tugendhat also claimed that the Tories need a return to office at the next election and that Starmer is "offering leadership to no one".

Tugendhat claimed: "We need a Conservative party that offers leadership. We need a government that offers leadership, and frankly, Keir Starmer is offering leadership to no one."

Noting the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the Tory leadership hopeful added: "We've got to be working with allies and this is where real leadership really shows.

"And that's why standing up for our interests, defending our allies, and defending democracy around the world is so important.

"I'm afraid what we're seeing from David Lammy, what we're seeing from this Labour Government is not leadership. It's just completely capitulation to different interest groups around Labour politics."
