Donald Trump’s success in the US election was down to a win for “common touch” against “elitism”, a US political commentator has claimed.
Speaking on GBN America, US political commentator Nelson Aspen spoke to Mark Dolan about the tipping point in the presidential contest.
He told the GBN America star that Trump’s touch with common folk was a deciding factor in voters sending him to the White House once more.
“It would have been an easy victory had Biden been the nominee and he had more of a run for his money with Kamala Harris”, Aspen said.

“I think what went wrong with her was her inability to connect with the everyday American. She lacks the common touch, no matter how much she says she is a child of the middle class.
“When she is surrounded by the likes of Lady Gaga, George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey while Trump is hanging out with plumbers and McDonald’s employees, I feel like the Democrats made the opposition feel like garbage.

“I felt there was an elitist aspect that she was missing. She was also very vague on detail.
“Nothing was more masterful than Trump appearing on the Joe Rogan podcast and being able to extemporaneously speak about any subject under the sun for three hours, something she would never have been able to do.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with gender or race, it was a clear case of the common touch versus elitism.”
Trump’s comprehensive victory saw him overcome Harris in both the Electoral College and the popular vote.

Harris delivered an emotional speech in Washington DC after speaking to Trump via a phone call.
The communication revelation was met with boos from the crowd as she said she “offered to help with the Trump administration with a smooth and peaceful transition”.
Determined to fight on despite her loss, Harris declared: "While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign. The fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, and for dignity of all people.
"The fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation. The ideals that reflect America at our best. That is a fight I will never give up."
