Joe Biden is said to have been barred from giving an address at the ceremony amid rapidly falling approval ratings

Kamala Harris left the New York 9/11 memorial service today without giving an address.

She attended the service in the place of Joe Biden, who is said to have been barred from going by the White House amid plummeting approval ratings - but she failed to give an address at the event.

The US President, or somebody sent in his place, would usually give an address at the memorial service, held to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

This comes as Biden's approval rating stands at just 39 per cent.

Meanwhile, 58 per cent of the US public say that his policies have worsened economic conditions in the US.

Former adviser to Ronald Reagan, Peggy Grande, told GB News over the weekend that Biden is being hidden away as part of a "basement strategy" pursued by the White House, in order to prevent his approval from dropping any further.

She explained: "The more he's been in the public eye the lower he drops in the polls".

This, she said, is why Biden did not attend any of the three main memorials for 9/11 which take place annually in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

He observed the occasion from a military base in Alaska instead.

There is also concern that Harris poses a threat to Biden's job after last week she said that an important part of her role is the fact that she “may have to take over” if the President is unable to complete his term in office. She added that she is ready to do so if required.

This comes amid mounting concern over 80-year-old Biden's age. He is the oldest-ever President to hold office.

Speaking to GB News over the weekend, Grande said that an appearance from Biden would also remind the public that "9/11 families have certainly been ignored".

She added: "After 9/11, Americans always said 'never forget' - but Biden always forgets".

When asked if Biden's absence from major events is going to increase as time goes on, she said: "Yes. We’ve seen it increasingly I’ve the last six months to a year.

"We've seen a major cognitive decline with the President. His physical capacities are much more limited."

The commentator said the White House is trying to avoid a repeat of the Medal of Honour ceremony when the President walked out early instead of standing on stage.

He left the ceremony early, leaving a war hero stranded on the stage.

She said: "We saw him walking out of the medal of honour ceremony - and they said it was because he didn't want to spread Covid after his wife tested positive, after he'd already breathed all over our great heroes.

"But we all know he was supposed to stand on stage - he just forgot.

"They're trying to cover for him and they're going to keep limiting his public appearances".
