The GB News host questioned: 'Why do you think green candidates and councillors have such a problem with antisemitism?'

Camilla Tominey took the Chair of the London Green Party to account for the party’s issues with antisemitism.

The GB News host grilled Eugene McCarthy on remarks made by several party members and the Green Party’s focus on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Camilla began by listing off a myriad of distasteful comments made by some councillors regarding Jews and Israel.

She asked: “Do you stand by these councillors? Why do you think green candidates and councillors have such a problem with antisemitism?”

Responding, Mr McCarthy insisted that the majority of those individuals had been suspended over their remarks.

“We have taken swift action to suspend people and ask the question of where it has arrived. That shows where the party is at.

“Out of 4000 counsellors, there were a very small number who had any sort of issues.

“Unfortunately, this is the case for every party. In every party, there are a small number of councillors and council candidates where things like this arise,” the Green Party official stressed.

“We need to take action on it. And I'm hoping that our new green councils will prove with actions, not just words.”

Camilla was unconvinced. interrogating: “Doesn't it come from the party's policies?

“This is a party that came up with the notion that Zionism is racism. Zack Polanski, the leader, said Palestine is on the ballot paper.

“Why on earth is Palestine on the ballot paper of local elections in the UK?”

“You've got a load of candidates that are basically campaigning on Gaza in local elections,” the GB Host fumed.

To that end, she questioned: “Would somebody like Zack Polanski get elected in Gaza?”

“It's under military occupation. There are no elections,” Mr McCarthy returned.

“He wouldn't get elected, not only because it's under military occupation, but because he's too Jewish and too gay,” Camilla hit back.

“Therefore, I wonder why the Green Party and its candidates are so virulently against Israel. Who are the ones trying to overthrow the murderous terrorists of Hamas that don't like Jews or gays? Square that circle for me.”

“I take a very simple, straightforward position. It comes from my Christian heritage, which is that I don't like people being killed,” the Green Party official said.

“I despise Hamas for what they have done. That is the Green Party's position.

“Equally, the wanton killing, the reckless, reckless slaughter of so many innocent men, women and children by Israel in Gaza, the West Bank, in Lebanon, is unacceptable," Mr McCarthy added.
