Voters in Bristol have shared their verdict on Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer's election manifesto ahead of the July 4 General Election.

Sunak and Starmer have set out their plans for the main driving factors of British voters including plans for NHS, illegal migration and taxes.

The Prime Minister has pledged a series of tax cuts alongside the return of the Help to Buy scheme, and to initiate the Rwanda deportation plans.

Keir Starmer has vowed to implement a cap on corporation tax at 25 per cent, reform the immigration and skills systems and nationalise gas with a new body, GB Energy.

Speaking to GB News, locals in Bristol shared their thoughts on the promises made by Labour and gave a damning response to Keir Starmer's outlook on the country.

One man admitted he "hadn't seen" the manifesto and was "confused" by both election campaigns, leaving him "skeptical" on who to vote for.

He told GB News reporter Jeff Moody: "What they say and what they do are normally two completely different things, it just makes you skeptical about everything that's being committed to.

"So I'm kind of probably like most people, just frustrated about the whole thing really."

Another voter criticised Starmer's manifesto and said there was "nothing outstanding" in his pledges for Britain.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

He explained: "I haven't read it in detail, but I have a fair idea what it contains. I don't think there's anything outstanding, anything out of the ordinary.

"I don't honestly think the manifestos are really worth reading, because I don't think they'll tell you a great deal about what's going to happen if the party gets into power. I think, like most aspects of the election, it is largely a farce. It's a show to pretend we're a democratic country, whereas in reality we're not really a democratic country.

"It's not the people, the demos that rule the country. It's the Plutarch's, the moneyed and the rich people. So whoever wins this election, the power will still remain in the hands of the wealthy and the financial institutions."

Offering some support to Labour, a female voter from Bristol said Labour will be inheriting a "poisoned chalice" from the Conservatives, and all Starmer wants is to "win the election".

She told Jeff: "Whatever they come up with, they inherited such a poisoned chalice. They're looking for ways of counteracting everything that's going wrong in this country at the moment. So whatever it is, whether they're going to achieve it is another matter.

"At the moment, all they want is to win the election, to get people behind them. We're in a terrible state, whatever they put forward, it has to be better. What we've got now, whether they achieve it, as I say, is the question."

Comparing the Labour manifesto to the Conservatives, another voter told GB News that he "isn't confident" that Starmer can turn things around if they win the election.

He explained: "It's a bit like the Conservatives, it'll be a load of promises, and I think it'll be a case of, for the first few years, just blaming what they've been left.

"I don't think they can achieve it without putting taxes up, and we haven't really got an answer for it. I'm just not confident, not at all."
