Author Yaakov Katz appeared on BBC News World to talk about the threat of war between Israel and Hezbollah

The BBC has come under fire for biased comments again after a presenter defended Hezbollah for bombing Israel out of "concern."

Speaking on BBC News (World), presenter Martine Croxall interviewed author Yaakov Katz on Wednesday evening about the threat of war looming over Israel and Hezbollah.

After asking Katz about Israel spreading white phosphorus the author responded: "The human rights watch, I'd love to hear what they have to say about the thousands of rockets being fired by Hezbollah."

Katz was cut off by Croxall asking for him to address the issue of white phosphorus to which Katz said: "White phosphorus is a side issue to the larger story Martine."

He continued: "Why is Hezbollah firing rockets into Israel, why is it attacking the Israeli state? We don't have a conflict with them. We don't have a territorial dispute with them. They are bent simply on Israel's destruction. And they want to kill Israelis and Jews.

"Just last week, they fired a rocket which hit a car in the Golan Heights and murdered the parents of three children. So white phosphorus is not the story."

After being pressed on why Hezbollah is firing missiles at Israel, Croxall said: "But we know that Hezbollah are acting out in this way -they've said so - because they are so concerned about the sheer number of Palestinian civilians who have died as a result of Israel's actions as a consequence."

Katz exclaimed: "So attacking Israelis with rockets is the way you show your concern for the deaths of other people. Martine, I'm sorry but that's ridiculous.

"What Hezbollah is doing is it saw Israel in moment of weakness" and said "we want a piece of the action."

Writing on X following the interview, Katz said: "I tend to keep calm during interviews but tonight on @BBCWorld when I was told that Hezbollah was attacking Israel out of concern for the number of people killed in Gaza, that was just too absurd to let it go.

"Hezbollah is doing something simple: It saw what happened on Oct 7, the day the most Jews were massacred since the Holocaust, and wanted a piece of the action. Sadly, when people smell the scent of Jewish blood others always want more."

Viewers took to X to express their frustration with Croxall's comments with user @KosherCockney stating: "You have got to see this to believe it. @BBCNews presenter @MartineBBC is defending HEZBOLLAH. Hezbollah firing rockets at Israelis are out of “concerns” for Gaza. Hezbollah are a Proscribed Terrorist Group in the UK. Yes the BBC is defending a terrorist group. @yaakovkatz said what we are all thinking and handled it very well. The BBC must face consequences."

Editor Jake Wallis Simons also commented: Wow. @MartineBBC seriously believes Hezbollah is attacking Israel out of “concern for the sheer number of Palestinian civilians that have died”. What a joke. @yaakovkatz very patient!"

In 2022, Croxall was taken off air by the BBC after her "gleeful" reaction to the news that Boris Johnson was pulling out of the Conservative leadership race.

The BBC said that the broadcast on October 23, 2022 featured “several remarks and reactions” from the presenter that “caused a significant risk that the audience could believe opinions were being expressed on the Conservative leadership contest”.
