Barack Obama and Democrat insiders have been accused of carrying out a “coup” after Joe Biden announced his decision to quit the presidential race.

US reporter Neil McCabe said on GBN America that Joe Biden did not want to abandon his presidential hopes but internal party fractions forced his hand.

He told Steven Edginton: “It’s a coup because President Biden did not want to go.

“Biden wanted to fight but that decision was made for him and we saw that in real time.

“No one from the Trump campaign had anything to do with the people who set up that gallows.

“The January 6 garbage is so tired, the Democrats use it as an excuse for everything.

“He is the President, he wanted to stay as President and he wanted to be the nominee which he won in the process.

“The Democrat donors and President Obama decided he had to go and he succumbed to that pressure.

“On one hand he’s perishable fruit and on the other, he’s commanding the table at Nato, it’s ridiculous.”

Biden announced his decision not to fight for a second term on Sunday and quickly revealed he will be backing his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

But according to McCabe, Harris will struggle up against the 78-year-old she has quickly set about rebuking in the early days of her campaign trail.

“It’s Trump vs Harris, and I like the chances of the Republicans in that fight”, he said.

Biden addressed the nation for the first time today after dropping out of the race amid concerns about his age and fitness.

The 81-year-old is the oldest ever sitting president and a poor televised debate showing against Trump last month did little to quell fears about his ability to govern.

He said from the White House it has been “the honour of my life to serve you as president”.

The Democratic leader added: “The defence of democracy, which is at stake, is more important than any title.

"I draw strength, and find joy, in working for the American people. But this sacred task of perfecting our Union is not about me. It's about you. Your families. Your futures. It's about 'We the People'."
