If you add class war to hypocrisy what do you get? The answer is Bridget Phillipson, Labour’s nasty Education Secretary.

Ms Phillipson makes much of her tough early life in the North East, with her Wikipedia explaining the council house she grew up in had no heating upstairs.

So, you would expect her to celebrate her 40th birthday with a toasted cheese sarnie at Sunderland working men’s club. That wasn’t for our Bridget. Far too grand. She fancied a big bash at the historic Hoare Memorial Hall in Westminster but there was a problem; she had no money.

The hall alone would cost £3,630. Up steps Lord Alli, always good for a touch, and £10,000 is forthcoming for the celebration with 100 guests knocking back the finest wines and the odd canape. At the do Starmer described her as ‘’a poster child for working class aspiration.’’

He might have added a poster child for hypocrisy.

We learned last week Phillipson was playing hockey for her local team and they use the astroturf pitch of a private school in the North East where fees are £25,000 a year. She scored a goal. You will understand why astroturf is important in relation to her hypocrisy in a second.

The reality, as Phillipson has pointed out in previous interviews, is that she plays ALL her club hockey on private school astroturf and has done since joining her present club in 2021.

That didn’t stop her tweeting five hours later the following in defence of her government’s decision to impose VAT on private school fees;

‘’ Our state schools need mental health support more than private schools need new pools.

‘’ Our schools need careers advice more than private schools need astroturf pitches.’’

The point she was trying to make was that private say they will have to cutback when parents no longer can afford to send their children to private schools but she doesn’t care as the demands of state pupils is more important.

First there is her hypocrisy. Without private schools she would not have played that game of hockey and scored that goal. There are virtually public hockey pitches in the whole country – they have all been created and paid for by private schools.

All funded by the fees from the parents who she clearly can’t stand. She is a classic class war warrior. Instead of demanding that state schools raise their education standards to private school level they want to reduce private schools to the state level.

Take A levels. In private schools 27% of sixth form students passed the at the top level compared with 9% in state schools. A number of parents virtually bankrupt themselves putting their kids through private schools so that they merge with a gold standard of education.

It’s also true that a number of private schools offer their swimming pools free of charge to local state schools. In order to help their finances when inevitably a number of parents say they can no longer afford the fees, I suggest they start charging the local education authorities for the pool use.

Labour have started to warn private schools they will carry out further punitive measure if such action was taken. My advice is to go to war against Phillipson and this government.

They hate you and they want to destroy you. Learn from the Israeli playbook. Fight back.
