A fundraiser has been set up for Jo and her beloved feline Mog

An XL Bully and a Pitbull teamed up to viciously attack a beloved pet cat on a family's driveway.

CCTV footage caught the moment in Rubery, Birmingham when mum-of-three Sarah Hewson's 'beautiful' cat Mog was set upon by one of the hounds at around 6.15am.

In the footage, Mog can be seen being dragged to the edge of the pathway "like a toy" before the second dog joins in the savage attack piercing its teeth into his stomach.

Miraculously, Mog managed to survive the attack but Sarah and her family have now been left facing vet bills of at least £3,000. An investigation has been launched into the incident by West Mercia Police and the RSPCA.

Sarah, 47, said: "It was absolutely horrendous. I fed Mog as I normally do most mornings when he comes to the back door and then he goes wandering about.

"At the time he was just sitting on the driveway when a woman came along with one dog off the lead and another on a lead.

"The first dog comes around the side of the wall like a flash and Mog didn't really stand a chance as it happened so quickly. It was horrible to watch back. He just gets dragged and you can see one of them sinking its teeth into his stomach.

"It's incredible he got away with there being two of them going for him. The vets said it was a miracle he made his way home and a miracle he was still alive."

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family and the medical bills for Mog.

The fundraising page reads: "Mog’s injuries consisted of many deep puncture wounds with some impacting massively on his liver. Mog has been in intensive care for his injuries including, drips, medications, scans etc He has been in intensive care as he needed round-the-clock care and support.

"Mog is currently being tube fed at home due to the spiralling costs every two hours, where he is tube fed directly into his oesophagus and is improving daily. Mog is however jumping at every noise he hears since the attack.

"Mog was a stray and feral cat which has lived in my family member's garden for 8 years as is used to living outside. He is chipped and owners are not claiming ownership. Mog was previously known as Milo. Therefore Mog has no insurance and spiralling costs."

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police told GB News: "We received a report that around 6.15am on Saturday 20 July a cat on Callowbrook Lane in Rubery had been attacked by a dog. An investigation is ongoing."

Sarah added: "He's still on a drip now and needs antibiotics as he's developed an infection so the vets costs could still rise from here."
