The model of the Baby Jesus has been destroyed

Spanish locals were left furious at two British tourists after they climbed over a sacred nativity display.

Enraged Spaniards branded the two men "puto ingleses" - which translates to "f***ing English" - as they screamed at them to get "out".


The disrespectful behaviour took place in in the centre of Jerez de la Frontera, in Cadiz.

The two men climbed over the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus and were accused of vandalising the Christmas scene.

Three locals confronted the two tourists

City council officials have since confirmed that the model of the Baby Jesus was ruined and now needs replacing.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the vandalism.

Video footage of the incident shows three locals rushing over to the display calling on the tourists to move away.

They eventually climb down from the stage before climbing back over the fence aimed at keeping people away from the Nativity.

A police car later pulled up beside the two tourists before they were approached by an officer.

It is unclear if the two Britons were arrested.

The Jerez de la Frontera Nativity scene is the biggest biblical monumental display of its kind in Europe. In total it is formed of more than 7,000 pieces.
