Beachgoers were shocked to find a seven-foot shark on a popular tourist destination with blood dripping from its mouth.
It was spotted on the Playa del Rihuete beach in Puerto de Mazarron at 10pm on Monday evening.
The 200kg shark got into trouble in shallow waters near the shore before members of the public attempted to push it back into the sea but could not save its life.
Town council workers took the shark to a rubbish dump for disposal on Tuesday.

On Sunday, a shark matching the same description was spotted five miles to the east in waters off the beach town of La Azohia.
The predator was initially thought to be either a blue shark or a great white shark but a vet later later confirmed it was a mako shark.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies the mako shark species as endangered.
They can grow up to 13ft long and 570kg in weight.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Witnesses said the shark appeared to be "disoriented" as it swam in shallow waters.
In a 2019 report, the IUCN said: "Across the regions, the Shortfin Mako was estimated to be declining in all oceans, other than the south Pacific where it is increasing."
The species are native to tropical waters, including the Caribbean, the Atlantic and the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Shark sightings in Spain are common, according to the Nautical Channel.

It comes after a 10-year-old boy was attacked by a shark while at a luxury holiday resort in the Bahamas.
The child from Maryland was bitten on the right leg by the creature “while participating in an expedition in a Shark Tank at a local resort on Paradise Island”, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.
Witnesses say they saw a “pool of blood” forming in the water at around 4pm local time on Monday, January 15.
