Attorney Robert Patillo joined radio host Dan O’Donnell on GB News America

A furious row broke out on GB News with a Georgia lawyer denying the state’s investigation into Donald Trump is politically motivated.

Attorney Robert Patillo joined radio host Dan O’Donnell on GB News America to discuss the election fraud case facing the ex-US President.

Trump is among 19 people charged with conspiracy to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, a case he is attempting to have thrown out, arguing he is protected by presidential immunity.

According to Patillo, the investigation into Trump is not “inappropriate” and there is no suggestion of a political bias.

“We have Donald Trump acolytes trying to confiscate voting machines in Coffee County”, he said.

“You have the Hall Country Sheriff going to try to interfere with the vote count.

“You have Mark Meadows seeking immunity because of his meddling directly in the electoral system.

You have hard facts, hard evidence, hard law. Instead, we try to throw all these flares out there to distract from the actual points of the prosecution, which is Donald Trump on tape calling the Georgia Secretary of State saying ‘I need to find 11,700’.”

O’Donnell snapped back at the latter regard, blasting it as “not accurate at all”.

Patillo said that Trump’s “own attorneys” are pleading guilty, which turns the idea of the case being “politically motivated” on its head.

O’Donnell accused Patillo of not “answering the question”.

“We have very strong evidence that in fact it was politically motivated”, he said.

“There’s no reason for a special prosecutor in a state prosecution to be meeting with the Biden White House just before he is hired to prosecute the chief political opponent of the United States.

“To suggest that there’s no political motivation to this is to deny the obvious.

“Right after Donald Trump announced that he was in fact running for president, you also have the hiring of a special prosecutor, Jack Smith, to essentially prosecute the exact same thing at federal level.

“The timing of that is more than just suspicious.”
