At least one person is dead and nine are in hospital following a shooting in Texas.
Police were engaged in a standoff with the suspect as of early afternoon in Midland, a town in central Texas some 330 miles (530km) west of Dallas.
There are 11 known victims, including one deceased person, local officials confirmed.
Midland Memorial Hospital said it received nine victims from the shooting, with four undergoing surgery.

“At this time, public safety personnel are actively responding, and we ask the public to avoid the area until further notice”, Midland Mayor Lori Blong said on social media.
Ms Blong said officers were quick to respond after first being alerted at 8:03 local time (14:03 GMT).
Upon arrival, officers heard gunfire coming from the building.
SWAT and other agencies were sent onto the scene, and the suspect was “contained”, Ms Blong said.
Midland Police posted on Facebook that the “active shooter incident has been resolved, and the suspect is confirmed deceased”.
Authorities have not released any information about the suspect or a possible motive for the shooting.
Midland Memorial said the five victims currently not in surgery are in a “stable” condition.
Ms Blong said she was not aware of any injuries amongst officers.

"Please join Jan and me in prayer for the victims, their families, and the city of Midland. Please also pray for our brave first responders who put themselves in harm's way to keep the Midland community safe. We thank them for their courage."
