Plans to build the tallest skyscraper in the US are underway in an unlikely city.
New York City might have been the expected place for yet another enormous skyscraper.
However, developers at a real estate company have put forward ambitious plans to erect a 1,907-feet high building in Oklahoma City.
Matteson Capital said in a statement: “The symbolic height honors the year that Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th state of the United States.”

The initial application had the tallest of the building’s four towers reaching 1,750-feet.
Such a height would have made it the second-tallest building in the US behind Manhattan’s Freedom Tower.
Matteson Capital confirmed earlier this week that it intends to request a variance from Oklahoma City’s zoning board to construct the project.
The structure would be the fifth-tallest in the world if approved.

Developers hope to erect three 345-feet towers alongside the gigantic fourth tower.

The top floors of the supertall tower will have a restaurant, a bar and an observation deck.
City officials have told local publication Oklahoma City Free Press that the company would need permission to rezone the property.
Such a move would come instead of simply requesting a variance.
Oklahoma City, home to some 680,000 people at the 2020 Census, is one of the fastest-growing cities in America, jumping to the country’s 20th-most populous metropolis last year.
