Passengers were reportedly evacuated onto the tarmac
Several passengers have 'evacuated' onto tarmac outside John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after reports of a fire.
CBS News reports the incident saw all of Terminal 8 evacuated this morning, with firefighters arriving on scene shortly after 7am to reports of smoke.
Fire crews found a lift in the building on fire. No injuries have been reported so far.
JFK Airport's official X account said in an update that flights at the terminal have been impacted, and urged passengers to check the status of their journeys.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "Flight operations at Terminal 8 have been impacted. Please check with your airline to determine the status of your flight."
On social medai, one person shared images of the scene and said: "Reported fire at JFK terminal 8, whole terminal filled with smoke and evacuation with no explanation."
Another added: "have had flight delayed for many reasons. Today is a new one: @JFKairport is on fire."
Terminal 8 hosts a number of international carriers, including British Airways Finnair, Iberia, Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian.

In a video posted by X user Kiko Alvarez, multiple fire trucks are seen driving across the tarmac and up towards two planes.
He wrote: "Something is happening in #JFK airport. We are not allowed to depart." Almost an hour later, he added: "We have been moved from the gate, but we are not departing... That's the situation right now."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
