Donald Trump’s former aide Sebastian Gorka has hit out at the left-wing, blaming them for the assassination attempt of the former president.

He joined Tom Harwood on GB News to react to the incident, which he admitted did not leave him shocked.

Gorka said his lack of bewilderment stemmed from the political discourse in America, which he claims is heavily weighted against Trump and lends itself to promoting violence against the 78-year-old.

“The current Vice President Kamala Harris raised funds to bail out Black Lives Matter arsonists”, he said.

“Those who were perpetrating violence in America were assisted by the current Vice President.

“What we witnessed yesterday was a bitter fruit of the left saying Donald Trump is a ‘threat to America and democracy’.”

GB News’s Tom Harwood countered Gorka’s claims, saying lines of attack used for Trump by Democrats are simply political discourse, and are not consequential.

Gorka was left frustrated by the claim, branding it “utterly outrageous” as Harwood likened the discourse used by Democrats to that used by Trump when the Capitol Hill riots took place.

Harwood pointed out that he feels the comments made by Trump on January 6 were not an incitement of violence, but also feels the same logic should be applied to lines of attack made by Democrats towards Trump.

Donald Trump issued a statement on his social media platform Truth Social after the attack, calling on people to remain “defiant in the face of wickedness”.

Trump thanked well-wishers and said “it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening”.

“We will fear not, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness.”

He added: “Our love goes out to the other victims and their families.

“We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.

“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united, and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined, and not allowing evil to win.

“I truly love our country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our great nation this week from Wisconsin. DJT”
