Three people have been rushed to hospital after a car mounted the pavement and crashed into a restaurant in central London.

The incident occurred at the junction of Coventry Street and Haymarket, near Piccadilly Circus, with witnesses reporting the vehicle ploughed into the building after leaving the road.


Emergency services quickly attended the scene, where they found both a pedestrian and a passenger from the vehicle requiring hospital treatment.

The crash took place at approximately 6:50pm on Tuesday, with police responding to reports of a collision on Coventry Street.

Footage shared on social media showed the damaged vehicle surrounded by onlookers, with smashed glass visible around the car and deployed airbags.

A significant emergency response was deployed to the scene, including at least two ambulances, one fire engine, and four police cars.

According to the Metropolitan Police, two people - a pedestrian and a passenger from the car - were taken to hospital for treatment following the collision.

The driver of the vehicle, while not seriously injured, was also transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Police confirmed there were no reports of any other serious injuries resulting from the incident.

Road closures remained in place around the crash site, with the A4 Haymarket Eastbound closed from Piccadilly Circus to Shavers Place.

A diversion was put in place for local bus routes, causing significant disruption to public transport in the central London location.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries into the circumstances continue. At this time the incident is not being treated as terrorist related."
