The involvement of further specialist units has been planned for the coming days

Police have revisited the area where missing Hungarian sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were last seen in Aberdeen, as the search enters its second week.

Officers spoke to pedestrians and motorists in the early hours of Tuesday morning near Victoria Bridge, where the 32-year-old twins were captured on CCTV at 2.12am on January 7.

The sisters were seen crossing the bridge and turning right onto a footpath next to the River Dee, heading towards Aberdeen Boat Club.

Following enquiries, police say there is nothing to suggest that Eliza or Henrietta left the immediate area.

Extensive searches have been carried out in recent days involving the police helicopter, dog branch and marine unit among specialist resources.

The search operation will resume today with a continued focus on the River Dee, with further specialist unit involvement planned for the coming days.

Police boats have been deployed on the water, while officers conduct land searches along the riverbanks between Wellington Bridge and the South Harbour.

Search teams are also examining the coast towards the Port of Aberdeen's South Harbour and towards Duthie Park.

Door-to-door inquiries are being carried out at homes and businesses in the surrounding area, alongside examination of local CCTV footage.

Superintendent David Howieson said: "We remain extremely concerned for Eliza and Henrietta as our searches enter a second week."

In a statement released through Police Scotland, the family said: "This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family.

"We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.

"If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta then please pass this on as quickly as you can."

The sisters' brother, Jozsef, told the BBC that their mother spoke to the pair in early January and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

Eliza and Henrietta, who are part of a set of triplets, are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair.

The sisters are originally from Hungary and are understood to have moved to Scotland seven years ago.

Their sister Edit, the third triplet, told the BBC she spoke to them on New Year's Eve via video call where they appeared "happy and cheerful".

Police Scotland said it has the support of police in Hungary, who are liaising with the wider family.
