A grooming gang survivor in Rotherham has shared her anger and disgust at the vote against a national public inquiry into the scandal last night.
Elizabeth, not her real name, told GB News that she “wasn't surprised” that 364 MPs voted against the Tory motion, but added: “it's just disgusting.”
“People want answers. We should be able to have them. And everybody else has had these national inquiries. Why not us?”
Rotherham was investigated by an inquiry organised by the local authority which found in 2014 that some 1,400 victims had been exploited and abused by gangs of predominantly Pakistani men from 1997 to 2014.

But Elizabeth said that many other areas have not had thorough investigations and she feared for victims in those towns
“It’s sad and they must be angry as well and rightly so. We’ve had numerous reports into Rotherham, but nothing's ever been done with those reports. But we did get some answers and we did get some.
"People actually believe in us. They deserve that.”
She also told The People Channel that the vote to block the inquiry was a “dream come true” to council officials and police officers in places where this abuse has been occurring.
“This is what they've been wanting. Not one of them has come out and said, ‘we're guilty of this’ or even apologised.”
She added: "I've always said it, and I'll keep on saying it: The only reason Rotherham was sorry was because they got caught. Otherwise it would never have never come out."
The brave victim shared a message to all of the survivors around the country in places like Birmingham and Bradford, where there's been no local investigation: "We will get there in the end. I truly believe that we're all standing together with the country, standing by us, even at other places in the world.
"We've got this, and we'll carry on fighting."
