In this exclusive documentary, premiering for GBN members, residents of Crewe told this broadcaster they felt unsafe due to migrant hotels.

Migrant hotels operating in Crewe have made locals feel “threatened”, GB News can reveal.

In a new exclusive documentary, this broadcaster went to Crewe to speak to residents about the migrant hotels operating in their area, with many raising serious concerns.

One local taxi driver and Reform Party member, Nick Goulding, told GB News: “It's the large numbers of young men in their early 20s, without dependents, without family, that really creates a lot of the anxiety that people have with it.”

Mr Goulding emphasised that it is “particularly women who feel threatened by these groups of young men hanging around.”

Crewe residents raised concerns about migrant hotels in their town

“Now, they may mean no harm whatsoever, but they still give out that threatening air to the extent that many women won't use Crewe Town Center anymore,” he continued.

Two hotels currently operate in Crewe for illegal migrants, as well as several other hotels in nearby villages and towns.

Before their election in July last year, Labour promised the use of migrant hotels would end within twelve months of Keir Starmer becoming prime minister.

However, statistics released by the Home Office in February revealed that the number of migrants being put up in hotels by the taxpayer has soared under Labour’s watch. The numbers show that in June 2024, 29,585 migrants occupied hotels, which increased to more than 38,000 in December.

BRITAIN'S MIGRANT HOTELS: THE TRUTH - WATCH IN FULL

Another Crewe local told this broadcaster that he attempted to get into a hotel in the town earlier this year but was told there was no space due to the hotel’s accommodation of migrants.

The resident continued: “Don’t let [migrants] in in the first place. They are housing all the wrong people… Crewe is just full of homeless [people].”

“You walk everywhere and it’s just a different languages being said [sic] , Polish, Romanian, Albanian, it’s everywhere”.

“They call Crewe now as a joke, ‘Crewesky’... It’s broken Britain”.

Since 2018 more than 150,000 people have crossed the English Channel illegally. Almost 40,000 of them are put up in hotels, paid for by the taxpayer

Since 2018 more than 150,000 immigrants have entered the UK illegally on small boats.

To tackle the small boats crisis, the previous Conservative government used hotels to house migrants at the taxpayers' expense.

Despite Labour’s pledge to end the use of hotels and tackle criminal gangs facilitating the small boat crossings, the number of illegal migrants entering the country has continued at a steady pace.

In the week beginning the 28 February, more than 1,000 illegal immigrants made the crossing over the English channel, including 592 on 2 March alone.

Discussing the issue of migrant hotels, another Crewe resident said: “We're overcrowded with people as it is, and we can't look after the people we've got here.

“They're just coming in in the hundreds and thousands, and it's ridiculous.”

A Treasury document, published earlier this month, predicted migrant hotels would continue to be used for years to come.

The document stated: "Demand for short-term residential accommodation across all of the cohorts is likely to remain over the coming years, given other pressures on housing supply, and risks presented by global instability.”

Ben Habib, the former deputy leader of the Reform Party, told this broadcaster that all illegal migrants should be deported from Britain.

“We need to… deport all illegal migrants, have a programme for repatriation of those who are here legally, and actually, I would have a moratorium, an absolute moratorium, on the right for indefinite leave to remain, and a moratorium on handing out British citizenship to anyone,” the politician said.

A Labour spokesperson said: “The last Conservative government broke the asylum system and allowed a criminal smuggling industry to establish itself in the Channel.”

“It remains our absolute commitment to end the use of hotels over time, while reducing asylum accommodation costs. The safety and wellbeing of the local communities with asylum accommodation is of paramount importance.

“Labour’s Plan for Change is restoring order to the system and driving up enforcement. Since July, returns are up to their highest level in half a decade.

"Some 19,000 people with no right to be here have been removed and we’ve increased enforced returns by 24% and illegal working arrests and visits by 38%.”
