Mass machete brawl involving around 100 people in east London leaves boy, 17, fatally stabbed

A 17-year-old boy has been stabbed to death, and another teenager critically injured in a mass brawl in east London.

Police were called to reports of around 100 people fighting in a residential street in Bow, some armed with knives and machetes.

GB News understands that one of the victims suffered a stab injury to his neck.

In a statement, a Metropolitan police spokesperson said that shortly after midnight last night "police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a large number of people in Lichfield Road, E3."

They continued: "Officers attended and became aware of two males with stab wounds.

"Medics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended."

One of the victims was given CPR at the scene by paramedics and specialist trauma doctors and both teenagers were taken to an east London major trauma centre.

The Met police added: "Despite the best efforts of medical staff, one of the males - who was believed to be aged 17 - was pronounced dead at 01:54hrs.

"The second male, who is believed to be 18, remains in a critical condition."

Police said the mass brawl is believed to have broken out after a number of people were refused entry to a house party in the area.

Immediately after the incident, senior officers in east London authorised a Section 60 order, allowing police to stop and search anyone in the area.

The order stated that "weapons have not been recovered and it is believed that there are still persons armed with weapons in the vicinity and concerns that there will be reprisals."

In the Section 60 order, authorised by Inspector Annelie Bartlett, the Inspector said: “I hope you appreciate that this is a decision that I have not taken lightly, and the likelihood of further violence and disorder is deemed to be so high that a S60 is the only reasonable course of action.”

Scotland Yard said the investigation into the stabbings was still at an early stage and no arrests had been made yet.
