M4 crash: 'Serious collision' sparks travel chaos near Bristol Airport with huge tailbacks

A "serious collision" is impacting travel journeys on the M4 near Bristol this morning.
There are long queues on the M4 in both directions near the Prince of Wales Bridge near Bristol.
Motorists are being wared of long delays following a traffic collision M4 westbound between J21 and J22.
Delays are expected to last through the morning.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: "A serious collision occurred at approximately 04:44 resulting in a closure of the M4 in both directions after the Prince of Wales Bridge near Almondsbury.
"Avon and Somerset are leading the response to the incident.
"National Highways resources are in attendance assisting with traffic management.
"Due to the nature of the incident the road is expected to remain closed through the morning."

Motorists are being advised to leave the M4 at J22 and take the 2nd exit onto the M49 southbound.
A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "Emergency services are at a serious injury collision which has fully closed the M4 between the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge (jnc 22) and Awkley (jnc 21).
"The Greenditch Street overbridge is also closed following the earlier collision on the M4 which involves a car and a lorry.
"Please avoid the area."
Anyone travelling westbound is being advised to exit the M4 at J21 and bear left on to the M48 and follow the M48 westbound across the Severn Bridge.
A spokesperson from National Highways South West said; "Delays eastbound across the Prince of Wales Bridge are adding at least 60 minutes to journey times."
It is not yet known if there were any injuries in the incident.
Motorists are warned the area will be closed for the rest of the morning.
