The 33-year-old would be stripped of her qualifications, and would no longer be recognised as a nurse.

A hearing due to last for the next two days will determine whether Lucy Letby will have her nursing credentials stripped from her.

Proceedings will be led by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), a body responsible for the official register of nurses.

On August 29 - just 11 days after Letby was found guilty on seven counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder - the review board for the NMC confirmed an Interim Suspension Order for the former nurse.

Commenting at the time, the NMC’s Chief Executive - Andrea Sutcliffe - said: "This has been a long, complex criminal investigation.

"We’ve kept in close contact with the police and the trust throughout, and will continue to do so.

"Ms Letby remains suspended from our register, and we will now move forward with our regulatory action, seeking to strike her off the register."

If this were to happen, the 33-year-old would be stripped of her qualifications, and would no longer be recognised as a nurse.

Despite pleading not guilty throughout the course of her 10 month trial, Letby was found guilty on 14 of the 22 charges she faced, including the murder of seven babies.

This made her the most prolific serial killer of children in modern British history.

These attacks took place between 2015 and 2016 whilst she was working on the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
