Keir Starmer's 'secret meeting' with defecting Bury South MP Christian Wakeford

A spokesperson for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said that defecting MP Christian Wakeford had been in talks with Labour "for some time", adding the Labour leader met secretly with the now former Tory MP on Monday evening.
GB News understands that the Bury South constituency Labour party have not been consulted on this defection which occurred shortly before Prime Minister's questions earlier today.
The Labour spokesperson refused to confirm whether any more Conservative MPs were in defection talks.
It appears that Christian Wakeford had been discussing a defection to Labour for some time, even before recent 'Partygate' allegations, with the spokesperson saying Mr Wakeford's reasoning goes beyond the current scandal.
Christian Wakeford believes that "this is a government that has run out of road" and is "actively breaking promises", said the spokesperson who went on to say Labour is open to anyone who believes in "decency, security, prosperity, and respect".
Labour campaigning group Momentum has also tweeted that they thought Mr Wakeford should not be an MP within the Party, criticising his voting record over tax, immigration and climate change.
Young Labour said Christian Wakeford "should not be admitted to the Labour Party" due to voting against the interests of working class people.
Boris Johnson's spokesperson said the PM is "sorry to see an MP who was elected by his constituents to support a Boris Johnson led government defect to put Keir Starmer in Number 10".
