Joe Biden has gone on a golfing holiday in the same month the US was crippled by storms and the economy tanked.

The resort boasts that it is “one of the most iconic luxury resorts in St. Croix. It’s tranquil here with stunning views in every direction and 340 acres of an oceanfront playground encompassing an 18-hole golf course, eight tennis courts, three beaches, two pools, a water sports center, a full-service spa and a salon, a 24-hour fitness center, three restaurants and a shopping arcade with fine boutiques.”

Former aide to Margaret Thatcher and GB News regular Nile Gardiner tweeted: “Joe Biden hard at work in the Virgin Islands following some of the most devastating winter storms to hit the US in decades, and as the American economy heads towards recession,”

It comes on a week where the US economy looks on the brink of falling into recession and in a month when a deadly blizzard left more than 60 people dead.

The country was battered by the deadliest storm in at least two generations as citizens struggled against the extreme weather.

A huge bomb cyclone killed at least 65 people with Buffalo, New York state worst hit by unprecedented blizzards and Arctic temperatures.

Emergency services attempted to locate and rescue vehicles left under enormous heaps of snow and drifts several feet high.

US central banks raised their interest rates in an attempt to fight back at high prices and stocks struggled through the whole of 2022.

A report released by the St Louis Federal Reserve Bank last week said that 26 out of 50 US states had signs of slowing economic activity, suggesting that the country is headed for recession.
