Jet2 flight makes emergency landing as passengers left 'vomiting' after 'loud bang' and 'burning chemical smell'

A Jet2 flight was forced to make an emergency landing after passengers were left "vomiting" after a "loud bang" and "burning chemical smell" seeped through the aircraft.
The flight was scheduled to head to Manchester from Antalya in Turkey after taking off at 11.45pm on Tuesday.
However, it was forced to return just an hour and a half after taking off.
A passenger claimed she heard a "loud bang" shortly after take-off, with a "burning chemical smell" soon following after.

She told Manchester Evening News: "Quite a few passengers were vomiting."
The woman added: "People sat near left wing looking out of window, vomiting and unable to put feet on floor. Hardly any info given which made it worse."
A flight map shows the plane turning back shortly after leaving the popular holiday resort.
The map showed an abrupt change in flight course.

Jet2 said: "Flight LS1702 from Antalya to Manchester followed standard procedure and returned to Antalya Airport yesterday, due to a technical issue.
"The aircraft landed safely and we arranged for all customers to be provided with hotel accommodation overnight."
A spokesperson added: "We will be flying customers back to Manchester Airport today.
"We would of course like to apologise for the delay to their travel plans."

The shock incident comes just days after Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks opened their Summer 26 programme for bookings.
The budget airline added a number of city break destinations to the list before putting them on sale.
Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Paris and Vienna were among the destinations recently added.
They said: "With flights and city breaks already on sale to Athens, Barcelona, Nice, Porto, Rome and Venice, the addition of another five historical gems means that Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks will operate to 11 city break destinations for Summer 26."
