Jay Slater’s cause of death has been revealed by coroners after his body was flown back to the UK.
The 19-year-old flew from Lancashire to the Canary Islands for a music festival but disappeared after he went to stay with people he met during a night out on June 16.
Based off of his last known location - which was in the Rural de Teno Park in the north of Tenerife - a huge search effort was launched, which saw local police, his family and even TikTok sleuths scour the land to try and find the missing teenager.
Sadly, their attempts were futile and the body of Slater was discovered on July 15, almost a month later.
Jay Slater died from traumatic head injures PAFollowing a post-mortem examination that was carried out in Britain last week, the 19-year-old was revealed to have died from traumatic head injuries.
His body was found in a deep ravine in the mountains and it was believed that he fell whilst trying to make his way back to his hotel.
Coroners found that Slater’s injuries were “consistent with a fall from height” and stated that his death would have been instantaneous.
The Spanish Civil Guard said the teenager could have fallen in the terrain where he had been walking, which had previously been described as “dangerous”.

A 'celebration of life' service will be held on the weekend for the teenager
PANow, a “celebration of life service” will take place at Accrington Cemetery Chapel on August 10 to commemorate his 19 years.
Those attending the service have been asked to wear something blue in his memory.
The family said they will provide floral tributes but said in a statement issued through LBT Global - a crisis support charity which helped the family through their loss - that “if anyone would like to bring a single rose to place with Jay, they are more than welcome”.
In a tribute to Slater his family said: “A loving son of Debbie and Warren, a cherished brother of Zak and brother-in-law of Jessica, a treasured grandson of Dawn, June and the late Dougie, a much-loved nephew of Glen and Katie, a dear cousin of Maddie and Tillie and a loyal friend to many. Jay will be very sadly missed by all those who knew him.

“At the young age of five Jay started playing football for Huncoat United FC until the age of 17 and also did a few seasons with the Sunday team at St Joesph's too.
“He also loved spending time chilling out with his friends.
“Jay's love of music and dance started at a very young age. He loved attending music festivals and events across the country and also loved to socialise and meet new people.”
