Thunberg was heckled after calling for 'international solidarity' at a climate rally in Amsterdam

Greta Thunberg found herself wrestling with a fellow angry protester, after he attempted to snatch the microphone from the 20-year-old at a rally.

Thunberg was speaking at a climate demonstration in Amsterdam when she invited a Palestinian and Afghan woman onto the stage.

The high profile climate activist was giving a speech at what organisers have claimed was the largest climate protest in the history of Amsterdam on Sunday.

Thunberg wore a traditional Palestinian scarf known as Keffiyeh to the event, and called for "international solidarity".

Thunberg said: "As a climate justice movement, we have to listen to the voices of those who are being oppressed and those who are fighting for freedom and for justice.

"Otherwise, there can be no climate justice without international solidarity."

Shortly before her speech, the crowd were reported to be chanting "Palestine will be free".

Another speaker at the event was made to cut her speech short after varied chants were heard in the crowd.

Thunberg continued her speech on the climate crisis, stating: "We are destabilising the biosphere and the very systems we depend on to survive as a civilisation.

"We are not standing on the brink of a catastrophe, we are living in it. People on the frontlines of the climate crisis have experiencing the first-hand consequences of it for decades now and they have been sounding the alarm, but we have not been listening, the people in power have not been listening."

The protester then stormed the stage in a bright green jacket and fought with Thunberg for the microphone, wrestling with her as she tried to hold on to it.

The protester then shouted: "I come here for a climate demonstration, not a political view."

The on-stage clash follows Thunberg's recent arrest in London, after attending a demonstration outside the Energy Intelligence Forum.

During the demonstration, Thunberg blasted the "spineless politicians" attending the Oil and Money conference inside the Forum.

Thunberg added: "People all over the world are suffering and dying from the consequences of the climate crisis caused by these industries who we allow to meet with our politicians and have privileged access to.

"That is why we have to take direct action to stop this and to kick oily money out of politics."
