Elon Musk has highlighted the “woke mind virus” in six shocking graphs on X, the social media company he owns.
The graphs show how often ‘phrases of prejudice’ have been mentioned since 1970 in four of America’s biggest newspapers: the Washing Post, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Phrase groups include “racism/racist/racists”, “sexism/sexist/misogyny”, “homophobia/homophobic”, “transphobia/transphobic”, "Islamophobia/Islamophobic” and “antisemitism/antisemitic”.
Each graph reveals a huge spike in the relative frequency in mentions of these terms, particularly in the early to mid 2010’s. The post has been viewed over 10 million times in 19 hours and has drawn 70,000 likes and 3,000 comments.
Musk, a staunch Donal Trump supporter, said the graphs prove the “woke mind virus” is “very quantifiable” and that Jon Stewart, the American political commentator, advocated censorship by stating it doesn't exist.
Stewart, host of the satirical TV show The Daily Show, has been critical of anti-woke campaigners like Musk. He recently told anti-woke comedians to “shut the f**k up” and said they were the “biggest fu**ing p***ies ever”.
The graphs were put together by David Rozado, a research scientist and associate professor at Otago Polytechnic, and shared by The Rabbit Hole, a right-wing social media account critical of mainstream media and the political establishment.
Musk has previously endorsed the account, writing “follow Rabbit” as he goes about championing free speech on X and promoting right wing ideology.

After purchasing X for $44billion, Musk reinstated many previously banned accounts, including Donald Trump, Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate.
Musk, the world’s richest man, is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and has donated roughly $75million in support of the Republican candidate. He recently pledged to give $1million a day to a registered voter in key swing states until the US presidential election on 5 November.
That latest tactic has raised many eyebrows with lawmakers in the US as it is illegal for someone to: "pay or offer to pay or accept payment either for registration to vote or for voting". The punishment for which is a $10,000 fine or a five-year prison sentence.
The US presidential election will be held on the 5th of November.
