An AI researcher has issued a grave warning over AI’s lack of limitations
The seemingly endless possibilities of AI have been further exposed with a researcher claiming programmes such as ChatGPT can lie and are already deceiving humans.
An AI researcher has issued a grave warning over AI’s lack of limitations, saying its ability to spread misinformation is something we could become accustomed to.
An AI researcher has issued a warning about advanced forms of technology potentially wreaking havoc should it be placed in the wrong hands.
He says as the technology progresses, it could increasingly trick human beings with powerful functions such as creating hallucinations.

Stuart Russell, who signed an open letter along with Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, spoke about how programmes such as ChatGPT and GPT-4 may be capable of misleading humans.
“From the point of view of the AI system, there’s no distinction between when it’s telling the truth and when it’s fabricating something that’s completely fictitious”, he told Tech Today.
Asked whether he believes AI chatbots could become sentient in the future, he stated: “We have no reason to think that any of these systems will be sentient.
“But to be honest, we don’t understand sentience at all. As far as we can tell, there’s no reason why humans should be sentient, either.

“There’s nothing that we can derive from our knowledge of biology or physics, or chemistry to predict that humans will be sentient.”
The researcher harbours more concerns over whether ChatGPT-like programmes can outperform humans.
He believes these systems are capable of manipulating humans and will eventually also be capable of controlling their own environment, as well as ours.
“Intelligence is what gives us power over the world over all the other species”, he said.
“The gorillas and the dolphins and the sparrows and every other species are under our control because of our intelligence.
“If you make systems that are more intelligent than us, then they’re more powerful than us. And how do we maintain over systems that are more powerful than us?”
