The happy customer now wants to track down the person who helped them to say thank you.
Stephen Lee, from Wrexham, was shopping at Aldi over the weekend.
However, he ran into a frustrating error when he was trying to pay at the till.
The cashier at the budget supermarket scanned his items for him and told him how much he needed to pay, but he was dismayed to discover his bank card was not working.
Lee also did not have any cash to pay for his shopping.
After the cashier said they would speak to the manager to try and find a solution, Lee stepped to the side to wait.
However, a few minutes later, Lee was shocked when he was presented with a receipt, even though he had yet to pay for it.
