NS&I updates the Premium Bonds prize checker the day after the first working day of each month

Premium Bonds holders are in with a chance of winning tax-free prizes each month, with payouts of up to the £1million jackpot.

NS&I says the quickest way savers can find out if they have won in the monthly prize draw is via the Premium Bonds prize checker.

This tool shows users the current month’s prizes, as well as any winnings from the previous six months. It will also show any older prizes that a Premium Bonds saver hasn’t claimed yet.

There are 2,305,227 unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes worth £80,396,875 which were won 18 months or more ago, correct as of October 2023.

NS&I said 740 prizes worth £30,500 were won 18 months or more ago by bondholders whose names are unknown.

NS&I releases some details about the Premium Bonds prize winners on the first working day of the month, and the prize checker will be updated the following day.

There are several ways to use the Premium Bonds prize checker – the NS&I website, prize checker app and the Amazon Alexa skill.

To use the prize checker on the NS&I website, savers will need their holder’s number.

This can be found on one’s Bond record or by logging into the account.

It will either have nine or 10 digits, or eight digits followed by a letter.

Savers can use their holder number or their NS&I number, which is 11 digits long, to check for prizes on the prize checker app.

Mobile users can download the Premium Bonds prize checker app on the Apple App Store or Google Play for Android devices.

Another option is to check for Premium Bonds prizes via the Amazon Alexa skill.

Once this has been enabled, the user can check for prizes.

They can also find out when the next results are available and if they have any unclaimed prizes.

NS&I's Agent Million pays a visit to the Premium Bonds jackpot winners. They will always be carrying ID so it's important people check to see this to ensure they are who they say they are.
