Nigel Farage, the Honourary President of Reform UK, has announced an “emergency” announcement about the general election at 4 pm.
Last week, Farage ruled out running as an MP but has since admitted “regret."
While it's not known what Farage will announce today, speculation is mounting that the former Brexit Party leader will now launch a bid to become an MP.
Following the announcement of an early election by Rishi Sunak last week, Farage said he did not have time to stand as a candidate and wanted to “focus on the US election” and Donald Trump’s campaign.
Instead, he said he would campaign for Reform around the country.
But there were concerns within Reform UK that his failure to be a candidate would mean their vote would not hold up in the election.
Farage previously said Reform UK is becoming a “brand new Conservative movement".
He also said there was “no difference” between Labour and the Conservatives over immigration policy.
Richard Tice, party leader of Reform, said that it would be “fantastic” if Farage reconsidered his prior denials of standing, noting that his former boss has until June 7 to do so.
