After a group of thieves ransacked a Tesco store in Reading, GB News asks its members if Britain has lost respect for authority.

The shocking footage showed a pair of masked and hooded thieves reaching behind the till before grabbing tobacco products.

Bottles of alcohol were also snatched and thrown into their bags.

The employees on duty can be heard pleading with them to “please stop,” but their requests go ignored as the masked individuals continue their brazen theft.

Footage from the incident comes after 430,000 cases of shoplifting were recorded in the UK in 2023.

Thames Valley Police, which covers Reading and Berkshire, has reported a notable increase in shoplifting charges.

The force recorded a 98 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

Similar crimes, such as phone-snatching, has surged across the UK over the past decade.

From April 1 to October 13, 1,691 shoplifting charges were recorded across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Milton Keynes.

The figure came after just 852 charges were recorded during the same period in 2023.
