WH Smith is in talks to sell its high street stores - so, GB News is asking: Would you miss WH Smith on Britain's high streets?
The retailer, which has been a similar face on UK streets for more than 200 years, has confirmed it is exploring whether to sell its shopfronts.
Over the past decade, the firm has focused on its more fruitful, travel retail business which operates from airports, train stations and hospitals.
The high street business now accounts for only about 15 per cent of annual group trading profit.
“Over the past decade, WH Smith has become a focused global travel retailer,” WH Smith said in a statement.
“The group’s travel business has over 1,200 stores across 32 countries, and three-quarters of the group’s revenue and 85 per cent of its trading profit comes from the travel business.
“There can be no certainty that any agreement will be reached, and further updates will be provided as and when appropriate.”
In this exclusive poll for GB News members, a nail-bitingly slim majority (52 per cent) of the 771 voters said they would miss WH Smith on Britain's high streets - while 48 per cent said they would not.
