Many supermarkets have slashed prices on their food across stores

Supermarket giants has introduced cuts in stores on many household staples, including fruits and vegetables.

Retailers often run promotions but many have brought in more permanent cuts.


Aldi

The discount retailer has slashed prices of various fruit and veg products.

From this week, foods including bananas, apples, spinach and courgettes and Specially Selected produce will see price cuts.

ALDI

It is the biggest round of cuts by the retailer this year, with 55 items reduced.

On average, prices will have dropped by 11 per cent on the items.

This comes as Aldi plans to open 500 more stores in the UK and make a range of changes in stores.

Asda

Asda has introduced price cuts across 425 branded and own-label products.

Prices have been reduced by an average of 11 per cent and main household staples were cut.

This includes bread, cheese, cereals, pasta, sausages and chicken.

In July, prices were already cut on more than 200 own-label products with reductions averaging around nine per cent.

This follows Asda continuing its rollout of Express stores which will give more shoppers access to Asda stores.

Tesco

Tesco has recently reshuffled prices in Express stores to make products similar prices to larger supermarkets.

More affordable options have been put into Tesco Express stores

TESCO

More than 50 everyday products have been replaced with more affordable options, making them 40 per cent cheaper on average.

Tesco convenience managing director Sarah Lawler said: “We know customers are watching every penny at the moment, so we hope these helpful product swaps will bring down food bills for even more families.

“Our Express stores offer unbeatable value on everything from essentials to fresh produce, making healthy food more accessible for the 2,000 communities that we serve across the UK.

"And while our convenience stores don’t have the shelf space to carry the full range of our larger shops, by swapping these products, we’ve been able to make way for even more of our great-value own brand ranges.”
