This comes as the retailer went into administration in 2020 and around half of all stores were closed.

However, it was later rescued and reopened four formerly closed stores reopened last year.

The retailer has faced several obstacles including a drop in footfall in the high street and a move to online shopping.

Peacocks is not the only retailer to close stores across the UK.

Sports Direct shared that a store in Swindon would close for good in early 2024.

A spokesperson for Sports Direct owner Frasers Group stated: "It is with regret that we announce Sports Direct Swindon in Orbital Shopping Park will be closing early 2024.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication.

"Where possible, we are committed to finding new roles within the Group for staff."

British retailer GAME also announced four stores would close and the first shut last week.

The total footfall on UK high streets is down which has caused difficulties for retailers.

Total Footfall was 8.8 per cent lower last year compared to before the pandemic according to data by BRC.

Footfall dropped the most in high streets but was also lower in retail parks and shopping centres.
