The successful actor David Tennant was born in Bathgate, near Edinburgh.

He has moved to the other side of the UK to live and is the owner of a home in a peaceful part of London.

London is the busy capital city of the UK, but some spots are more private and residential.

One of these is Chiswick in West London, where the actor owns a home with his family.

The property was said to be worth around £2.6million in 2019 when David was given permission to add to the home.

He was granted planning permission for a 16-metre swimming pool.

This included a changing room as well as a garden room and a gym.

Chiswick is a leafy part of London that has a small village feel, with plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Those who have visited have shared praise on Tripadvisor and the area has a rating of 4.5 out of five stars.

One visitor wrote: "Pleasant area to visit, not for the tourist who is hunting for sightseeing spots.

"The main road is tree-lined so in October, the leaves are turning and falling. There are quite a few sidewalk cafes.

"It's just a welcoming area. We stopped off and had lunch and a look around some of the shops, that's all, but enjoyed it."

Another added: "A village within the City. Great pubs, restaurants, walks and local sightseeing and experiences. The river is stunning, as are the parks."

A third agreed, writing: "Stayed here for a long weekend. Lovely high street with a good variety of shops. The gardens at Chiswick House were stunning."

Actor Colin Firth also chose Chiswick as an area to settle down and he lived in a Grade II listed Victorian estate.

Music legend Midge Ure owned a £3.5million mansion in the suburban part of London.
