Product Description: A black three-pin travel converter for European 2-pin plugs to a UK 3-pin plug with a hinged lid secured with a screw and external fuse access. The plug uses 12 Amps to convert a non-earthed Euro plug to a UK three-prong plug.

The OPSS stated: "The adapter presents a risk of fire as it has been identified that some plugs have been incorrectly fitted with a 13-amp converter, instead of a 3-amp converter.

"Should a consumer use the adapter to connect a non-UK plug it may overheat, leading to a fire.

"The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

"The product has been recalled from end users. Affected users have been contacted directly by La Redoute. For further assistance, call 033 0303 0199 or email helpline@redoute.co.uk."

Recently, Britons were warned that a cooking tool found in UK kitchens has been deemed "unsafe" as users risk being "burned".

Two models of PowerXL Stuffed Wafflizer Waffle Makers were therefore recalled.

The OPSS said: "The product presents a risk of burns as it has been identified that hot pieces of the waffle or stuffing can be expelled during use, or upon opening the product.

"The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

"The products have been recalled from end users. Consumers in possession of any affected waffle makers should stop using them immediately."

Britons were also urged to check their kitchens for an appliance that could "cut" users, with the OPSS revealing a defect in the Empower Power XL Self-Cleaning Juicer. Customers in possession of the affected product were told to stop using it and given further guidance.
