Home Bargains has issued a recall for its Happy Easter Plush Toys due to a serious risk of asphyxiation.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has warned that the products present a significant safety hazard.

According to the Cleveland Clinic: "Asphyxiation is when your body doesn't get enough oxygen. Asphyxiation affects how you breathe. It may cause you to pass out and can also cause death."

The toys have been found to have weak seams that can easily come apart, potentially exposing the internal fibrous stuffing material. This poses a "serious risk" as children could access and place the stuffing in their mouths.

A hand cleaner has also been recalled due to contamination with harmful bacteria, posing a potential health risk to consumers.

Those who have purchased the Elbow Grease Heavy Duty Hand Cleaner from 151 Products Ltd have been warned it contains aerobic mesophilic bacteria.

Shoppers were told the affected product presents a microbiological risk that "could cause infection or irritation", particularly if used on damaged skin or if it comes into contact with the eyes.
