As we age, our skin undergoes significant changes in texture and elasticity, but making adjustments to our beauty routines can help us maintain a fresh appearance too.
Choosing the right products can support skin regeneration, promote elasticity and smoothness, thus temporarily changing its condition.
One compound gaining attention in skin care circles is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found within our bodies.
According to WebMD, this compound is present in the fluids of our eyes and joints, where it serves as a crucial cushion and lubricant.

Because hyaluronic acid plays a vital role in wound healing and tissue regeneration, it has become particularly valuable in anti-ageing skin care treatments.
To harness the benefits of the ingredient, TikTok skin care enthusiast Karen has introduced the "sandwich method", a technique she discovered in France.
"Now that December is coming, let's supercharge our moisturiser," she told viewers. "We are going to be 61 years old in December."
“I learned this in France when I was there last year, this is the sandwich method, which involves using a toner followed by a hyaluronic acid cream."
She follows a three-step routine that involves patting in toner, applying a small amount of hyaluronic acid, and finishing with moisturiser.
"You're going to let this fully absorb, then you're going to take your moisturiser, and then you're going to glow all day," Karen explained.
She recommended using this method only two to three times weekly for optimal results.
While the benefits of using hyaluronic acid topically have garnered praise from experts, there are other ways to use the ingredient for rejuvenation.
The anti-ageing ingredient can also be taken as a dietary supplement, pill or liquid mixed with water.
Nutrition coach Patrick Farrell recently highlighted the benefits of hyaluronic acid supplementation for those seeking to combat signs of ageing.

Speaking to GB News, he explained how the compound effectively traps moisture within skin and connective tissue.
His recommendation is backed by a study from the European Journal of Dermatology that demonstrated an 18.8 per cent reduction in wrinkle depth through supplementation.
Farrell advised opting for the low molecular weight form of hyaluronic acid supplements.
"Your gut bacteria do break down oral hyaluronic acid into low molecular weight hyaluronic acid," he noted, emphasising the importance of choosing the right formulation.
