Women may want to invest in a vitamin C serum if they want to look years younger than their age

A woman's skin care routine can make her look years younger than she is - or years older if she's not careful.

An influencer for women over 50 shared the product she swears by to look two decades younger.

Glory B from GloryB-TV said: "I'm 63 years old. Good skin care products are important for how good your skin looks at this age. My skin looks similar to how it did when I was 40 - but it's 23 years later."

While the influencer admitted to having had a few minor tweakments, she credited her youthful complexion mostly to her skin care routine. There are some products she simply "can't live without": vitamin C serum, hydrating serum, sunscreen, exfoliator and a night-time moisturiser.

Glory B revealed that she swears by vitamin C serum in particular. She noticed a big improvement in her skin after six months of daily use, sharing that it made her skin "brighter and smoother".

She said: "This serum smooths the skin's surface and helps to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

"It's an anti-inflammatory too, so if you have redness it can even out your skin tone."

She added that vitamin C can "help boost collagen production - and that can help prevent your skin from sagging".

A journal published in the National Library of Medicine stated: "The optimal concentration of vitamin C depends on its formulation.

"In most cases, for a product to be of biological significance, it needs to have a vitamin C concentration higher than eight per cent.

"Studies have shown that a concentration above 20 per cent does not increase its biological significance and, conversely, might cause some irritation.

"Reputable products of vitamin C available today are, therefore, in the range of 10 to 20 per cent."

Glory uses a 20 per cent solution, but advised that others can start on a lower concentration "to ease into it".

According to the experts at skin care brand Zensa, the benefits of vitamin C are endless. The miraculous ingredient: boosts collagen and elastin production, reduces acne and skin inflammation, improves skin hydration, promotes wound healing, protects against sun damage and pollutants, fights wrinkles and fine lines, improves uneven skin tone, reduces scar appearance and brightens the complexion.

They added: "The best ingredients to mix with vitamin C to hydrate the skin, fight wrinkles, brighten your complexion, fight free radicals and increase sun protection are vitamin E, ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, peptides, sunscreen and niacinamide."

Glory B advised that a lot of products combine vitamin C with vitamin E and ferulic acid.

Vitamin E has several skin-boosting benefits. It strengthens the skin's barrier, is moisturising, has antioxidant properties, treats hyperpigmentation and protects from UV exposure.

Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that neutralises free radicals. Antioxidants work to reduce the number of free radicals and prevent oxidation and attacks on collagen.

According to an expert, women can look 10 years younger with this vitamin, with obvious benefits in as little as two weeks.

Experts say that the best time to apply a vitamin C serum is in the morning. Glory B recommended that those starting their vitamin C journey apply the product three times a week for two weeks, after cleansing and before other serums. She advised applying four to five drops, although this will depend on your chosen product.

She concluded: "Then, starting the third week, apply it every morning. In six months you're going to see brighter, smoother skin."
