As the body ages, skin changes reflect shifting hormone levels deeper within the body, causing dryness and sagging.
While changes in appearance should be embraced at all stages of life, making a few lifestyle tweaks can bring out the best in our skin.
A 69-year-old beauty enthusiast named Melissa recently shared the skin care secrets she's maintained for nearly five decades, claiming that she has followed the same cleansing routine since she was 20 years old.
She believes her age-defying approach has helped to tackle common signs of ageing by 'lifting' the face.

In a recent TikTok clip, Melissa demonstrated the time-tested cleansing technique, which she performs twice daily.
"This is how I wash my face twice a day and have for almost 47 years," she explained in her post.
"It feels like maybe it gives a lift to my skin," Melissa shared, adding that she knits her own washcloths using inexpensive, pure cotton yarn.
The method involves looking down into a mirror whilst using a washcloth to stroke the skin in upward motions.
While Melissa acknowledges that skin changes in one's later years are perfectly natural, she maintains that her cleansing techniques may help slow the progression.
Though the cleansing method is the cornerstone of Melissa's daily skin care routine, it isn't the sole contributor to maintaining youthful skin.
The content creator has also credited other anti-ageing solutions, including retinol and red light therapy, for helping maintain her youthful appearance.
Among Melissa's most endorsed skin care tools is a red-light therapy mask, which she credits for making significant improvements to her complexion.

"I bought the Omnilux Contour Mask and I love it," Melissa revealed in a video titled 'My game-changing skin care routine at age 68-69'.
The beauty enthusiast noted the rapid results she experienced with the device, sharing: "I started noticing a difference pretty quickly. I can't tell you how much I like this."
According to the Cleveland Clinic, red light therapy is showing promise as an emerging treatment for various skin concerns, including wrinkles, redness, acne, and scars.
"I didn't use it as much at first, but then I got on a regular schedule and it really, really started making a difference," Melissa explained.
