The five beauty techniques enhance mature features rather than fighting against them

While skin care regimens should always cater the our skin's needs, maintaining a youthful appearance over 50 doesn't require complex procedures and treatments.

Five essential beauty techniques can help achieve what experts call "polished ageing" - a natural, refreshed look that enhances mature features rather than fighting against them.

Carmindy Beauty (@carmindy_beauty on TikTok), a makeup artist and beauty expert for over 30 years, recently shared simple yet effective tips focusing on key areas of the face.

The first essential tip focuses on maintaining bright, white teeth. As the expert noted, yellow teeth can significantly age one's appearance.

The second key element is achieving full eyebrows, which naturally become sparse with age.

"Having a nice full brow definitely frames the eyes and keeps you looking youthful," Carmindy advised.

Foundation choice is equally crucial for mature skin, with the makeup artist recommending a sheer liquid formula.

"You don't want a full face of pancake makeup and you don't want dusty, chalky powder foundation," the beauty specialist advised.

Black mascara is recommended as the fourth essential, offering "less makeup and more impact" when framing the eyes.

The final essential tip is to add colour to cheeks and lips, as skin can become dull over time.

"We want to bring it back to life with a little kiss of colour," the expert explained.

The focus remains on polished ageing rather than anti-ageing, creating a naturally enhanced appearance.

The expert has previously shared the product she would never wear as an over-50s makeup enthusiast, claiming that it can make your lips look "crusty".

Instead, Carmindy advised: "You always want to use a nice, creamy, hydrating pigmented lipstick to ensure your lips' health and hydration."

Offering another top tip for women in this age group, Carmindy instructed them not to "bake" underneath their eyes.

She explained that baking is when you "press all that heavy powder" in.
