How to look younger: Expert names top treatments to 'combat unwanted changes' around the eyes during menopause

GB News is consulting experts to uncover the best strategies for achieving beauty goals. This week, a hormone expert has revealed how a simple approach could help women achieve younger-looking eyes during menopause
Menopause triggers a range of physical changes on the face and body, but making key lifestyle adjustments can influence their progression.
In the eye area, the main changes tend to involve an increased number of lines and pronounced dryness of the skin.
Some women may notice their eyes appear more sunken due to the loss of preorbital fat, while others are more prone to puffiness and bags.
Because these visible changes are directly linked to the hormonal changes that occur during menopause, treating the underlying causes may help. One expert suggests applying hormones to the face.

Speaking to GB News, hormone scientist Amy Beckley explained that physical changes during menopause reflect low oestrogen and progesterone.
Fortunately, prevention and treatment options are available to help women navigate such changes.
The expert explained: “One way to prevent or treat [these concerns] is to apply hormones to the skin on the face.
“Several companies make oestrogen face creams and these would be a balancing oil that contains progesterone.
“Used together, these can help keep the face looking young and prevent unwanted changes.”
One study published in the International Journal of Dermatology found that those treated with topical oestrogen for six months saw improvements in their skin's elasticity and firmness.
These changes were reported alongside noticeable reductions in wrinkle depth and pore size.
While applying specialised creams to the face may support hormonal balance, a doctor should be consulted beforehand.

GETTYPrevention should also remain the priority for slowing down signs of ageing.
The most effective time to start following a skin care routine is in one’s twenties and thirties, particularly when it comes to signs of ageing around the eyes.
One dermatologist has previously shared the exact amount of sunscreen you should be wearing on your face every day to reduce wrinkles.
Another way women can achieve younger-looking, healthier skin is by getting their beauty sleep, as this is when the skin undergoes a repair process.
