While hair can be an incredible anti-ageing tool, the wrong cut, colour and style can add unwanted years to a woman's look.
According to Sally from Fabulous Over 50, middle-aged women need to stop styling their hair a specific way. She urged them to ditch the scraped-back look.
The over 50s content creator urged women to avoid the ageing hair mistakes she used to make.
She said: "The first mistake that I see women over 50 making is pulling their hair up super high, super tight in a topknot or bun."

While this hairstyle is certainly simple to achieve and practical for getting on with day-to-day activities, the influencer suggested it does women over a certain age no favours.
She said: "This straight away looks - I'm sorry to say - cheap, but it also looks extremely ageing. What you're doing is making yourself look older."
Sally claimed that the style is not flattering, saying that it highlights the thinning hair that often comes with menopause.
She added: "And if you're using one of those wax sticks to make it super slick, you're also making the mistake of it looking greasy as well as ageing."
It's still possible to wear a bun, however, just consider a looser style that flatters the face.
For women over 50 who are struggling to make their hair look incredible, a hairstylist shared her simple but "game-changing" hair hack for "lush" and "youthful" locks.
The over 50s influencer continued, urging middle-aged beauties to refrain from making their eyebrows look too dark or using thick black eyeliner.
Rather than drawing a thick line across the top and bottom lashes, Sally said she likes to go for a flick across the top lash.
"But when I see women who have got extremely thick and black eyebrows and really thick eyeliner, this makes you look older," she said.
Sally claimed that a very bold eyeliner look can make a woman look older as this is the way they used to highlight their eyes before they had the "bags, dark circles and wrinkles" that come with age.

Because the over and under-eye areas change and inevitably age with the rest of us, they must be accentuated in a way that considers the ageing process.
According to Sally, thick eyebrows and eyeliner make for a "hard" look - "it doesn't look chic and if anything, they cheapen your overall look".
Making a change to your hair can be totally transformative, but women can also take years off by revamping their wardrobes.
Another fashion influencer for women over 50 shared the ageing clothing items they should "ditch".
