The products you use every day can protect your skin from sun damage

Skin care products can be used every day for a smoother, brighter complexion, and even younger-looking skin.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, a doctor explained why the number one product to use is a good SPF.

Sunscreen is great for reducing the risk of burning and other sun-related health risks, but it is also key for anti-ageing.

Leading aesthetics and skin care expert and co-founder of The Ardour Clinic Dr Paris Acharya said why it is her top tip for a youthful complexion.

She said: "My ultimate top tip for staying young-looking is to always wear a broad spectrum SPF, no matter the weather, temperature or season.

"A broad spectrum SPF protects you from both UVA and UVB rays which helps the skin to stay youthful and will help to reduce premature ageing and sunspots.

"The Mineral Fluid Sunscreen SPF50 uses Fernblock®, a patented plant extract that is proven to protect against the sun’s rays and reduce sunburn by 80 per cent. This powerful technology also prevents DNA damage and boosts skin strength."

Most people will remember to wear sunscreen on hot, sunny days, but it is important to apply this, even when it is cloudy outside.

Look for an SPF of 30 or above. Retinoids are another skin care ingredient gaining attention for their anti-ageing properties.

The expert recommended looking for beauty products that contain this ingredient if you are trying to combat the signs of ageing.

Dr Acharya said: "Retinoids are the gold standard, evidence-based anti-ageing skin care ingredient.

"Retinoids are derived from vitamin A, they are topical creams that can be applied to your skin to improve its appearance by reducing lines and wrinkles, fading pigmentation, reducing acne and breakouts and improving pore clarity.

"Vitamin A plays a fundamental role in reversing the signs of ageing by increasing cellular turnover, promoting new collagen formation and exfoliating dead skin cells, resulting in smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin."

This comes as a clinical nutritionist shared advice for achieving glowing skin from the inside out.

They recommended taking care of your gut as this can reduce skin inflammation and even reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
