Skin care: The 'ideal' morning and evening regime for 'the best skin of your life' over 50 - achieve 'brightness and radiance'

GB News is speaking to experts about the best measures to achieve your beauty goals. This week, a skin care expert and a dietician shared their top tips for achieving the complexion of their dreams
Beautiful, glowing, youthful skin is a goal for many mature women - and a very achievable one with the right know-how.
GB News spoke exclusively to a skin care expert and a dietician about how ladies can achieve "the best skin of their life".
Co-founder of the Harley Street Skin Clinic, Lesley Reynolds, addressed the specific skin concerns of older women and provided her top tips for managing mature skin.
She said: "There are a few different ways our skin changes as we head beyond 50. Firstly, our skin begins to lose collagen and elasticity, which reduces its firmness and makes it thinner.

GETTY IMAGES"It's also common to experience dryness on a level that you didn't when you were younger as oil production decreases and our skin loses its moisture.
"These changes are exacerbated by menopause, which makes the skin more sensitive and prone to pigmentation.
"To combat this, I suggest focusing on products that help maintain and lock in hydration, such as hyaluronic acid paired with a good moisturiser."
Asked how mature women can achieve "the best skin of their life", Lesley stressed the importance of following an "ideal" daily skin care regime.

Morning
Lesley advised women: "Start with a gentle cleanser to avoid fully stripping the skin, then move onto a serum that contains vitamin C. This can help protect against free radicals and help reduce dullness by brightening the skin.
"I would then follow this up with a rich, hydrating moisturiser that contains either ceramides or hyaluronic acid and then - as I always recommend - finish this up with a broad-spectrum SPF."
The expert explained that ceramides "strengthen the skin barrier and help with a loss of hydration that is common as we age".
As for hyaluronic acid, this is a "key ingredient that assists with retaining the moisture in the skin and helps improve the appearance of wrinkles".
Evening
The expert continued: "In the evening, I would recommend using a mild cleanser to remove any impurities or makeup worn throughout the day and follow up with a retinol which will help restore collagen production and improve skin texture.
"To finish off, I suggest a rich night cream that will assist with skin barrier repair. A weekly exfoliation with lactic acid or an enzyme-based product can boost the overall radiance of your skin."
As well as following a skin-boosting morning and night-time routine, mature women can eat their way to beautiful skin.
Trista Best, a dietician at The Candida Diet, also spoke to GB News about how ladies may be able to "tighten saggy skin" through their food and drink choices.

Advising women to prioritise balanced eating, she explained that a "diet rich in fruits, vegetables and lean proteins can help to support overall skin health".
As part of a skin-boosting diet, the expert highlighted the importance of incorporating proteins and healthy fats.
Trista said: "Adequate protein intake is important for maintaining healthy skin and supporting the production of collagen, which helps to keep skin firm and elastic. Good sources of protein include poultry, fish, eggs, beans and nuts.
"Healthy fats, such as those found in avocados, olive oil and nuts, can help to moisturise and nourish the skin."
As for what skin enthusiasts should avoid, the dietician advised ditching processed foods, sugary drinks and alcohol, "as these can contribute to poor skin health".
