Men tend to experience a drop in self-esteem when they lose hair but there are methods to manage it
As men get older, it is very common for them to lose hair, potentially 50 to 100 hairs per day.
Whilst some men embrace their hair loss, a lot of men tend to feel self-conscious about balding.
However, there are methods that men can take to manage and lessen the effects of hair loss. Some of these methods require financial investments but some are free such as using the right comb or managing stress.
Dr Roshan Vara is an expert hair surgeon and he listed five things for men to consider doing.

The expert recommended having iron, vitamin D and biotin supplements as these are all essential in bodily functions like hair growth. He suggested biotin being particularly crucial and stressed the importance of vitamin D to regulate growth and support immune functions.
Stress management
The expert added that reaching your 50s can be a stressful time. He advised doing more physical activity in your daily routine, which will boost circulation to your scalp.
Nutritional support
The doctor continued: "Enriching your meals with protein and omega-3 fatty acids are some more essential components to hair health.
"This can include poultry, which can better strengthen hair from its roots, and fish and nuts, vital for hair hydration and shine."
Hair care practices
Dr Vara talked about maintaining the natural oils in your hair so make sure your shampoo is sulfate-free.

Using the right comb is also key as the wrong comb can put too much stress on your hair. The expert recommended taking extra care when styling.
Consider tropical treatments
Dr Vara said: "Minoxidil is a medication shown to increase hair density and thickness, prolonging the growth phase of the hair cycle and shortening the shedding phase." He recommended minoxidil which is used effectively to reduce pattern hair loss.
